Cross Country & Biathlon in the Olympic region of Seefeld, Mösern
|
Cross-country skiing at its best on 266 km of impeccably groomed trails!
The 5 villages that make up the Olympiaregion Seefeld have, for many years now, been offering facilities and conditions for cross-country skiing enthusiasts unparalleled anywhere else in Europe – with 266 kilometres of impeccably groomed trails covering all levels of difficulty, both beginners and experts alike can enjoy this Nordic sport to the full. The ratio between classic and skate skiing trails is pretty much evenly balanced and many sections have both types of trail running parallel to one another.
The Olympiaregion Seefeld, which played host to the Nordic disciplines in the Winter Olympic Games of 1964 and 1976, is hailed as a Mecca of cross-country skiing. Almost all the world’s cross-country elite have trained and competed here, not only because of the friendly Tyrolean hospitality, the breathtaking scenery and the ideal climatic conditions, but also because of the superb network of trails which is constantly being improved and extended.

Awards for olympic cross country trails
|
The cross-country trails in the Olympiaregion Seefeld have, once again, received a glowing commendation from the renowned ADAC Ski Guide!
Every year, more than 200 cross-country skiing areas are scrutinised by the stringent jury of the ADAC Ski Atlas. In view of the strong competition, the Olympiaregion Seefeld is especially proud to have received a 2nd place award in the category “Cross Country Skiing” in addition to the two 1st places it received in 2007 and 2009.
The biathlon bug has hit Seefeld

A state-of-the art biathlon centre for Seefeld!
The 2009/2010 winter season will also see the addition of a biathlon centre to Seefeld’s already extensive cross-country facilities. The main reason behind this enhancement is the 2012 Youth Olympic Games taking place in Innsbruck with Seefeld designated to host the biathlon events. The biathlon centre puts the finishing touches to the Olympiaregion Seefeld’s Nordic sports facilities. Further information can be found HERE.
Special cross-country skiing trails
Floodlit cross-country skiing trails
A 3 km section of trail between Seefeld and Mösern, floodlit between 5 pm and 8.30 pm every evening from Monday to Friday, means that you can enjoy a cross-country ski run long after the sun has gone down.
Adaptive cross-country skiing trails
The Olympiaregion Seefeld fulfils all the criteria to enable wheelchair users / adaptive cross-country skiers to enjoy this winter sport to the full.
Dog-friendly cross-country skiing trails
In Leutasch, dog owners can find a pooch-friendly trail specially created to enable our four-legged friends to accompany their owners on a cross-country ski run. The 1.5 km-long section can be found on the A8 Lehner trail, which is suitable for both classic and skate techniques.
