Seefeld has twice been host to the Winter Olympics in the disciplines of cross-country skiing and Nordic combination. The Olympic flame was lit in Innsbruck for the first time in 1964, and then again in 1976 when Innsbruck/Seefeld played host to the Winter Olympics for the second time and once again attracted thousands of enthusiastic fans to the region.
